As a student considering a transfer to CU Boulder, you have a bit more experience under your belt, and likely have a strong sense of who you want to be as a future Buff. There is no 鈥渙ne size fits all鈥� at CU Boulder, and that is part of what makes our community unique and amazing! At CU Boulder, you will associate with a large faculty, staff and student body made up of a variety of backgrounds. 1. Campus Environment

With majestic Flatiron mountain views, pristine landscapes, and buildings that are characterized by sandstone exteriors and red-tile roofs, CU Boulder has been consistently ranked among the most beautiful campuses in the nation. When you鈥檙e here, be sure to give yourself a study break and take a stroll around the picturesque Varsity Pond. On a balmy, spring afternoon, consider enjoying a picnic lunch with friends at Farrand Field. If you鈥檇 like a spectacular bird鈥檚 eye view of campus, be sure to take a westbound trek up Baseline Road!
2. Community
CU Buffs not only discover communities of individuals who share similar interests, but our students have the opportunity to participate in creating community and broadening understanding through exposure to a diversity of thought, life experiences and cultures. Your interests may lie at the intersection of politics and civic engagement, music, issues of social justice and equality, philosophy, the integration of technology and the visual arts, sports or environmental issues. Regardless of the passions you bring as a transfer student, you are guaranteed to meet similarly-minded individuals, and you are also likely to learn from those who think differently from you and who will challenge your views! Perhaps you鈥檒l enjoy company with new friends while taking in afternoon tea at the Dushanbe Teahouse, window shopping on Boulder鈥檚 Pearl Street Mall or purchasing fresh produce at the Farmers Market.
3. Outdoor Recreation
CU Buffs enjoy convenient access to the natural world. Have you considered taking up biking? With a plethora of convenient trails that wind through the city and into the foothills, this area is made for commuting and exploring without a car. If you鈥檙e just getting into mountain biking, consider starting off on the Boulder Canyon Trail before exploring rougher terrain. Are you up for a weekend camping adventure with friends? Rocky Mountain National Park isn鈥檛 far! Keep on the lookout for wildlife, especially herds of elk. Or perhaps you鈥檙e feeling reflective, and enjoy the occasional solitary hike: check out the South Mesa Trail in Eldorado Springs. Head up the road a little further to Eldorado Canyon, where rock climbing is a popular and exciting pastime. Consider learning or beefing up your kayaking or paddle boarding skills on the Boulder Reservoir鈥� and of course, don鈥檛 forget your skis! 听
4. Denver
CU Buffs not only thrive in our exquisite campus environment and through abundant options for outdoor recreation, but many of our students take full advantage of all that the Mile High City (Denver) has to offer. Denver offers exceptional nightlife, restaurants, museums, professional sports (Broncos, Nuggets and Rockies), botanical gardens and more. Public transportation from Boulder to Denver is efficient and comfortable; and if you鈥檙e feeling ambitious and adventurous, you might make your way to Denver using the newly built U.S. 36 Bikeway!
5. Greater Colorado and Surrounding Areas
CU Buffs do not limit themselves on opportunities for exploration. Many students venture into the greater Colorado and surrounding areas. Just two hours from Boulder is Leadville, Colorado 鈥� a funky mountain town that you鈥檒l pass on the way to some of the most stunning scenery in Colorado, the Twin Lakes area. While loving life as a CU Buff, why not also plan a road trip over a long weekend to the breathtaking red rocks of Moab, Utah or head down south to explore the ancient, enchanting Pueblo of Chaco Canyon, New Mexico?
