Abigale Stangl conducts research aimed at elucidating and reducing the social and technical factors that exclude people with disabilities from accessing information and developing critical media and information literacies.听Through this work鈥搘hich sits at the intersection of information science, education, and design鈥搒he contributes to the design of vision to touch, touch to language, and vision to language information technologies that make information accessible non-visually. She also designs and implements inclusive听educational experiences, aimed at positioning all community members to be designers and makers.听She holds a 听PhD in Technology, Media & Society and a Masters of Science in Information Communication Technology for Development (ICTD), both from the ATLAS Institute at CU Boulder, a graduate diploma in landscape studies from Lincoln University and a Bachelors of Environmental Design degree from CU Boulder. She is a founding director of the Visionaria Peru program, an initiative to support clean cooking and women鈥檚 empowerment in Peru. 听Her doctoral advisor was听Tom Yeh, assistant professor of computer science.
After receiving her PhD in Technology, Media & Society, Abigale continued as a postdoctoral research fellow in the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin, supervised by Dr. Danna Gurari.听
