Map of Asia CAS Career PanelThe Center for Asian Studies happy to announce our second Career Tracks in Asian Studies, with a new panel of specialists. We invite you to come learn about exciting career opportunities with our panel of experts in fields related to Asia and international affairs. Our panelists will describe their own career paths and share advice about how to leverage knowledge of Asia into a promising global career.

This event is open to all students, and should be of particular interest to students majoring in Asian Studies, Business, International Affairs, Linguistics, Chinese, Japanese, Geography, Political Science and related fields. Please see below for panelist biographies.

George Taylor is a “global nomad†with roots in South Asia and 30+ years of international development experience in Asia, Africa and South America. Mr. Taylor has worked on many different sides of the international development equation: as a Foreign Service Officer inside a large bilateral development assistance agency (USAID); for a private consulting firm; managing field programs of an international NGO; serving on the Executive Committee of a private foundation active in international philanthropy; and working on program and institutional evaluations in the areas of natural resources management, environment, agriculture and rural development. 

Colin Williams' international career includes extensive China expertise working with local and national government organizations, businesses, and higher education. In addition to working at CNN's Beijing Bureau, Mr. Williams was a diplomat at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. His China experience also includes work in renewable energy, telecommunications, and social media. Mr. Williams received his BA from Duke University in Comparative Studies and Mandarin Chinese, and his MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management. He currently works on international recruitment in the Office of Admissions at CU-Boulder. He is a Boulder native and a 2001 Fulbright Scholar.

Taka Muraji is an experienced intercultural trainer who has worked in both the U.S. and Japan facilitating business training programs. Mr. Muraji earned his master’s degree in Linguistics from CU-Boulder and went on to establish GLOBALEX, a company that provides intercultural training for US-Japanese business management and relationships, where he currently serves as owner and president. Mr. Muraji has also worked in advertising in Japan and New York, providing consulting services for companies such as Disney and Motorola.
