The Center for Asian Studies would like to wish you a happy New Year! We are excited for 2014 and anticipate another busy but engaging year. This spring, we are inviting Ambassador Chris Hill to campus to discuss the nuclear issue in North Korea. Professor Richa Nagar will also be coming to deliver the keynote address for the 20th Annual Critical Geography Conference in which she will talk about feminism in South Asia. South Korean sculptor Jongku Kim will offer a performance, and Alison Klayman, a documentary filmmaker, will present a screening of her award-winning film Never Sorry. Additionally, we will host our annual CAS symposium on this year's theme, "Catastrophic Asia." We are also looking forward to the fall when we will introduce our 2014-2015 theme, "Mediating Asia."

We wish you the best in 2014, and we hope to see you at our events as we continue to explore the idea and reality of Asia.
