Mara Mintzer, program director for Growing Up Boulder, will speak at听听Nov. 11听at the 听in Denver.听 Mintzer is among 18 finalists out of an applicant pool of around 1,700.

Although speakers are not allowed to divulge the exact content of their speeches, Mintzer said her听talk will be related to her听current work at Growing Up Boulder, where she helps integrate children and youth voices into Boulder's city planning.

"At Growing Up Boulder, we challenge adults, undergraduates, youth and children to work together and listen to each other," Mintzer says. "I want people to realize how capable children and youth are at shaping the world around them. Working with low-income children and youth, I've been amazed by how insightful and creative young people are."听 听
