I am delighted to invite you to read the inaugural听issue of Voices, the CU Boulder School of听Education鈥檚 annual magazine. In our pages and online,听we offer perspectives on current events in听education as well as several spotlights on听some of the many inspirational people in our听field. From collective efforts to address teacher听recruitment and retention issues to听the community leaders like Christine Ahn and Hon. Christine Arguello听who are blazing a trail,听thanks, in part, to their education here听to new opportunities to reconnect at听events like Homecoming and Ed Talks, Voices aims to engage and inspire. We听hope you can see your work, your interests and听your voices reflected in these听pages. Also, we听want to hear from you. What are your concerns,听your successes, your challenges, your goals?
At times, it seems the focus on our field hinges听on the many challenges within education,听and yet we are also a part of a long-standing听movement focused on noticing, exploring and听extending the successes in education. Our听university has proudly supported educators听from virtually day one鈥攚ith CU teacher听preparation beginning just one year after the听founding of CU Boulder and the state. Today,听we offer cutting-edge teacher preparation that听addresses the schools of tomorrow; innovative听undergraduate programs in education and听community leadership; and Colorado鈥檚 topranked听graduate education programs. In听these uncertain times, we听continue to live our听commitments to democracy, diversity,听equity and justice.
Your School of Education is steadfast in its听charge to teach for change, and to partner with听schools, educators, researchers, policymakers,听community partners and you to truly transform听lives.
