Alaina Beaver (PhDEdu) recently joined Google as the accessibility UX lead program manager for commerce. Beaver says that while moving into the tech industry is a shift, she finds that she is using the people skills, empathy and commitment to equity and inclusion that she deepened during her time in the doctoral program.

Eric Gordon, secondary teacher licensure graduate, is teaching science and aviation at Monarch High School in Louisville with other CU Teach alumni.

Teacher Rawa Abu Alsamah (MEdu) writes that she is CU Boulder’s first Saudi Arabian woman to earn a master’s degree with an emphasis in teaching English to culturally and linguistically diverse students. Rawa is a sixth grade special education teacher at Denver’s STRIVE Prep-Kepner.

In his free time, Garrett Cease (MEdu) can be found rock climbing, skiing, meditating and practicing yoga. As a teacher, he often uses methods learned from rock climbing, such as risk mitigation and staying present, to guide his actions in the classroom.

Rachel Malsam (Elementary Education licensure) accepted a 5th grade teaching position for the fall at Range View Elementary. Malsam is excited to finally have her first teaching job and do what she loves.
