Colorado Mountain College students are now eligible for guaranteed admission to the 乐播传媒 Boulder鈥檚 College of Engineering and Applied Science if they complete four specific courses at CMC, thanks to a new partnership between the two institutions.

CU Boulder鈥檚 College of Engineering and Applied Science maintained a top 20 spot in U.S. News and World Report鈥檚 Best Undergraduate Engineering rankings, coming in at No. 17 among its public institution peers for the third year in a row.

Each year, from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, we observe National Hispanic Heritage Month by celebrating the cultures, contributions and honoring the histories of Hispanic and Latino Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

Michael Gooseff has been elected as a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union (AGU), the union announced on Wednesday. AGU, the world's largest Earth and space science association, bestows the honor annually on a select number of individuals who have made exceptional contributions in their fields.

CU Boulder's College of Engineering and Applied Science welcomed its largest-ever cohort of doctoral students in 2024. With a 25% rise in PhD enrollment year-over-year, CU Engineering continues to solidify its reputation as a leader in graduate education, particularly among women and students from minoritized communities. The incoming class includes a record percentage of female doctoral students, with women making up 37% of new PhD enrollees, surpassing the national average of 29%, according to data from the American Society for Engineering Education. CU Boulder stands as the top large public institution for the percentage of women doctoral students enrolled鈥攁mong institutions with more than 1,000 PhD students鈥攈olding a lead over peer institutions.

During SpaceX鈥檚 Polaris Dawn's multi-day high-altitude mission, which rocketed to space on Sept. 10, the crew will conduct health impact research to better understand spaceflight-associated neuro-ocular syndrome (SANS). Researchers from CU Boulder and the CU Anschutz Medical Campus are right there with them. Or at least their equipment and expertise will be. The research is a collaboration between Allie Hayman, associate professor in the Ann and H.J. Smead Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences at CU Boulder, and Prem Subramanian, chief of neuro-ophthalmology at the CU School of Medicine.

Professor Hendrik Heinz and his CU Boulder team, along with collaborators from University of California, Los Angeles, achieved a breakthrough that could boost clean energy production. The research was featured on the cover of the journal 鈥淣ature Catalysis鈥� in July.

Jim Heaney, former professor and chair of CU Boulder鈥檚 Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering passed away on Aug. 24. He was 84 years old. Heaney served as a CEAE professor at CU Boulder from 1991 to 2003 and as department chair from 1991 to 1994.

Peleg will receive a total of up to $2.5 million over five years to pursue the origins of animal communication and how it influences the group cognition of social animals.
