In fall 2024, ENVD will welcome Neuro.D, a new research lab spearheaded by Assistant Professor Elena Sabinson. The lab will center around the intersection of neurodiversity and design and seeks to empower designers to assess environments, create guidelines and design novel products that celebrate and support neurological differences. By prioritizing user-led design, Sabinson hopes that Neuro.D will challenge traditional behaviorism approaches while emphasizing user well-being. With plans to audit CU campus wayfinding systems through a neurodiversity lens and collaborate with external partners, the lab will provide real-world impact beyond its walls at the Creative Labs Center.Â
