REU PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Environmental Science Institute (ESI) of the University of TexasÌýat Austin announces an NSF-funded program during the summer of 2016Ìýfor undergraduates interested in environmental science research.

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ will be trained in laboratory and field methods applied toÌýstudies of global change and its impacts and will work on independentÌýprojects under the supervision of a faculty mentor. Project areas areÌýinterdisciplinary and encompass the fields of chemistry, biology,Ìýecology, urban ecology, policy, environmental engineering, andÌýgeological sciences. ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ will participate in a weekly researchÌýseminar series, portfolio creation, and professional developmentÌýactivities. ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ will also participate in field excursions related to scientific research. These 1-2 day activities may require physical exertion involving hiking, caving, camping, and/or boat rides in hot and humid weather. The summer program will conclude with a research poster session and open house.
