Ben Alessio is a research assistant at CU-Boulder in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department from Algonquin, IL. He graduated in 2021 with an undergraduate degree in Physics from Princeton University, where he researched diffusiophoresis in microfluidic settings, granular physics, and plasma physics. Following his graduation, he interned at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory where he worked on drone flight controllers and geospatial analysis for geothermal energy, and later was awarded a Fulbright grant to study unstable oceanic and atmospheric flows during extreme weather events in Concepción, Chile. His current research interests include numerical and theoretical complex fluids, self-organizing systems, and environmental flows.

In his free time, Ben is a jazz drummer who frequents his local jam sessions, a reader of science fiction, and an enthusiast for long walks in nature.
