Awarded by the China and Inner Asia Council (CIAC) ofÌýThe Association for Asian Studies, Emily was selected to receive the E. Gene Smith Book Prize on Inner Asia. The award is given in recognition of her achievement as the author ofÌýTaming Tibet: Landscape Transformation and the Gift of Chinese Development, published by Cornell University Press.
