Mark your calendars for important fall graduation deadlines, funding opportunities, and professional development workshops


Graduation Deadlines

November 16

Doctoral students must complete the PhD dissertation defense or final examination by this date. Notice of the examination must be provided to the Graduate School using the doctoral final examination form two weeks before the exam.

November 28

  • PhD students must submit the dissertation with Thesis Approval Form to ProQuest by this deadline. The dissertation must be for review and approval by Graduate School staff by the end of the business day. The single-page Thesis Approval Form (TAF) must be uploaded as a supplemental file with the dissertation in order for the submission to be complete. ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ whose dissertations are received after this deadline, or those not submitted with the TAF, must apply to graduate at the following semester's commencement.
  • PhD and DMA students must fill out the online by this deadline. Learn more about the survey on theÌý.
  • Master's students must complete the thesis defense or final examination by this date. Notice of the examination must be provided to the Graduate School using the master's final examination form two weeks before the exam. Certain units do not require an exam for non-thesis students. Please contact your department with any questions.

Join the Josephine Jones Speaking Lab and facilitator, Audra Barber, recent TEDxCU speaker, for a workshop designed to enhance all aspects of your presentation. In this workshop, you will learn methods for engaging your audience, polishing your delivery, crafting meaningful slides, and reckoning with those public speaking jitters. The advisor-advisee relationship can be complicated. Jerry Hauser, Faculty Ombuds, will provide tools to help you navigate this relationship. If you have concerns about such matters as assessment of your work, assignment to projects that are feeding your interests, receiving responses to your work in a timely fashion, even accessibility, then this presentation may help you think strategically about how to address them.

This session, led by Kristina Quynn, explores the most common leadership models and how we show up as leaders in our unique contexts—from the heroic to the systemic. What kind of leader are you? What kind of leader do you want to be? This session acknowledges key differences between how leaders and managers work in an organization and how leaders can best engage and support followers.

Time to take a break and focus on your mental health.ÌýResearch has shown that consciously practicing mindfulness and gratitude can reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. This workshop will teach a basic definition of mindfulness and simple skills for practicing daily mindfulness and provide you with tools you can use outside of the session. Additionally, the presenter will lead you through gratitude practices and exercises. Lunch will be provided. RSVP required; space is limited.
