Dr. Susan Guinn-Chipman is a curator in Rare and Distinctive Collections, where she develops and coordinates instruction and exhibits for RaD’s Instruction & Outreach.  She earned her Master’s degree in Art History (1993) and her Ph.D. in History (2009) from the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Boulder and has taught in these disciplines at the Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Denver, the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Boulder, and Colorado State University.  

Her teaching and research center on topics in visual and material culture, religious history, the history of medicine, and the history of the book.  She applies object-based learning to her teaching, integrating rare materials and collections into the classroom with the goal of actively engaging students in the learning process.  Her current projects include student-centered online exhibits focused on RaD’s rare and unique collections: ; ; and , the latter an extension of the , a digital humanities project focused on the Reverend Francis John Stainforth’s nineteenth-century manuscript of his library of women’s poetry and prose, a key part of RaD’s Women Poets of the Romantic Period Collection.
