The AVC collaborates directly with deans, directors, chairs, and principal investigators. This position is responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to ensure day‐to‐day operational excellence while bringing forward new and innovative ways of supporting research on the Boulder campus.

Who We Are

The Office of Contracts and Grants (OCG) submits over $2.4B in research and services proposals annually, yielding over $600M in new awards on behalf of the ֲý Boulder. OCG manages the lifecycle of each award beginning with proposal development and submission through award acceptance to reporting and final closeout. OCG is responsible for the negotiation, execution, and maintenance of 3,600 project agreements with external funders, including Master Agreements, memorandum of understandings, cost‐reimbursable and fixed-price research agreements, external services agreements, grant awards, sub-agreements to external entities, fellowships, confidentiality agreements, teaming agreements, and sponsorships from industry.

The Research & Innovation Office (RIO) is focused on creating impact by cultivating and supporting collaboration, transformation, and leadership. At the heart of this focus are the diverse contributions of a wide range of world-class specialists, working together in new and innovative ways to accelerate ideas through the entire innovation lifecycle, from idea to impact. The Office of Contracts and Grants (OCG) is the Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) and administrator for all externally funded sponsored research on the CU Boulder campus, operating under the direction of the Research & Innovation Office. Throughout the lifecycle of an award, the Office of Contracts and Grants (OCG) partners with faculty, staff, and students to obtain and manage external support for sponsored activities through our specialized regulatory and organizational expertise.

​What We Require

  • Baccalaureate degree.
  • Minimum eight years of progressively responsible management experience within a sophisticated organizational setting.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive supervisory responsibility supervising professional staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in a research setting such as a major research university, institute, federal agency, or similar experience.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Advanced degree or professional certification in a closely related field.
  • Active membership in research administration organizations such as COGR, NCURA, and/or SRA International.
  • At least three years of experience and demonstrated proficiency in developing, managing, and being responsible for diversity, equity, and inclusion planning.
  • Demonstrated participation in professional development opportunities supporting required competencies, knowledge, and skills as described above
