Dear Infrastructure and Sustainability team,
I hope this note finds you well and that you’re able to connect with loved ones during this holiday season even if you can’t be together in person. One of my favorite events in a normal year is our annual Infrastructure and Sustainability Staff Appreciation Luncheon. The event marks the rare opportunity for an organization the size of ours to come together, share a meal and celebrate our accomplishments for the year.Â
This year, as you know, has been anything but normal. Due to the pandemic, we will unfortunately not be able to gather for this event in person this December. However, it is extremely important to me that we still make time to reflect on a job well done, even if we must do so virtually.Â
Last week, we sent out a Save the Date email to hold time on your calendar from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17 for a virtual employee appreciation and all-staff meeting in place of our usual luncheon. I’m also pleased to announce that we’ve added a second session from 11 a.m. to noon that day to increase access for staff who work earlier shifts. If you don’t have the original invite, you can find information and links for both sessions at the link below.Â

In a year where so many of you have gone above and beyond to support our campus mission in the face of the pandemic, our I&S leadership team wants to recognize all your achievements and thank everyone for their inspiring efforts. We will also reserve time to provide a few updates and for you to ask questions.Â
I hope you will make time to join us, whether working remotely or on campus, to reflect and celebrate. You are truly valuable and vital members of our campus community, and I am humbled and genuinely inspired to be part of such a great team.
With gratitude,
David Kang, vice chancellor for infrastructure and sustainability
