Dear Infrastructure and Sustainability team,
I hope this note finds you rested and recharged from the holiday weekend. I know that for me the long weekend provided an opportunity to reflect on the amazing work you have been doing to support the university’s implementation of the Road Map to Fall 2020 plan. The sentiment I continue to hear from our campus partners is that the work we’re doing in Infrastructure and Sustainability is extremely important, appreciated and being executed well.Ìý
Of course, much of this work continues to happen from home for many of you, which presents its own sets of challenges -- as well as some rewards. I wanted to take a moment today to highlight the efforts of some of our groups that have been working on-campus to support our campus mission.
Our Distribution Center team, for one, has gone above and beyond in recent weeks supporting the return to campus of researchers that began in late May. The team has played an integral role procuring and processing large quantities of supplies and equipment, and will continue to be crucial to campus’s safe return to in-person learning in the fall.
Our custodial and trades groups, many of whom remained on campus even during the height of the government stay-at-home order, continue to keep our campus spaces clean, disinfected, safe and functioning at a high level.Ìý
From Utility and Energy Services to Outdoor Services to our project managers, planners and inspectors, I know these on-campus efforts have not been easy during this time due to new safety and social distancing requirements that have changed the way many of you must carry out even the simplest of tasks. I want you to know your dedication and resilience during this time has been truly inspiring.
I encourage everyone to continue to tune into the weekly Road Map to Fall 2020 implementation team updates posted each Thursday in CU Boulder Today. They provide snapshots of the milestones that we’re achieving not only in Infrastructure and Sustainability but also across our campus as we work collectively to set the stage for a successful fall semester. As a reminder, facilities-specific updates are also on our Infrastructure and Sustainability website. It is amazing the collaboration that is occurring and the progress that is being made in such a short amount of time. I cannot thank you enough for all of your efforts.
With gratitude,
David Kang, vice chancellor for infrastructure and sustainability
