Along with Donald Trump鈥檚 big gains on Super Tuesday, there has been an unprecedented spike in Americans interested in bolting to our聽neighbors up north.
This insight comes from Google Trends, which shows that as Trump won state after state on Tuesday night, the number of聽web聽searches for聽聽grew exponentially 鈥� peaking at midnight where the search term聽rose in popularity by 1,500 percent.
Aside from the prospect of a President Trump, Canada has other reasons to appeal to American liberals. 聽Canada鈥檚聽newly-elected PM Justin Trudeau has been聽聽because of his聽left-leaning聽positions on immigration policy, climate change, and establishing 鈥渒indness鈥� as聽a major component in policies.
During Thursday night鈥檚 Republican debate in Detroit, Michigan, Donald Trump claimed that聽he鈥檚 鈥渟oftening鈥� his stance on聽highly-skilled foreign workers.
He told debate moderator and Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly that he would be聽willing to issue more H1-B visas to these聽workers, contradicting his own聽聽to limit the H1-B program and make the program less attractive to American employers.
Trump also said he would be willing to negotiate the size of his proposed聽U.S.-Mexico border wall, the same wall he聽intends to force Mexico鈥檚 government to pay for and build.
This series of legislation has included bills聽which bar undocumented immigrants from holding certain positions in local government, punish聽so-called 鈥渟anctuary cities鈥� which refuse to fully cooperation with federal immigration authorities, and passing a constitutional amendment to establish English as the official state language.
Georgia鈥檚 state Senate聽聽which imposes new restrictions on driver IDs issued to undocumented immigrants聽which clearly identifies the legal聽status of the holder.
Georgia鈥檚 local legislators聽appear to be trying to bolster their immigration control credentials before the November elections, where immigration is set to be a major issue driving voters to the polls.
