The February 6, 2023 earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey has had devastating consequences. The earthquake, the biggest one the region has seen in over a century, has generated an unfathomably large humanitarian crisis and help is desperately needed in the region. If you're interested in helping, here are some guidelines to follow.

Before you donate, do your research.

  • Look for reputable and registered organizations.
  • The most effective form of donations are monetary ones.
  • Consider donating repeatedly to support long-term relief, not just short-term.

Here are some established organizations to consider donating to:

  • is an organization that works in areas with high levels of poverty. They are seeking donations to provide resources in the form of cold shelter relief, food, hygiene kits, and other important necesities.
  • is a well-established humanitarian aid group that supplies medical resources and direct aid to humanitarian disasters.
  • is a NGO that has previous experience with disasters caused by earthquakes. With offices near the Turkish and Syrian borders, they are at an ideal location to provide immediate relief.
  • is an international organization working on both short-term and long-term solutions to the situation.
  •  is looking for donations for its Disaster Response Emergency Fund so it can send immediate assistance to Syria and Turkey.
  • is a United States-based group that provides medical care in Syria and nearby nations.
  • is an organization that works to provide resources to children with both short-term and long-term relief. They are urgently seeking donations to provide relief to children in the form of food, shelter, and other basic needs.Â
