Hannah Ledvina is a Jane Coffin Childs postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biochemistry at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Boulder in the laboratory of Dr. Aaron Whiteley. Dr. Ledvina’s work investigates the bacterial immune system. She received her B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Arizona in 2014 and went on to perform her Ph.D. studies in Microbiology at the University of Washington in the laboratory of Dr. Joseph Mougous. Throughout her research career, Dr. Ledvina has been fascinated by bacteria and their ability to survive in diverse environments while under constant attack from other organisms. Dr. Ledvina’s current work focuses on understanding how bacteria defend themselves against their viral pathogens, known as phages, as well as their bacterial pathogens, termed predatory bacteria. When not in the lab, Hannah enjoys cooking, hiking and exploring Colorado with her family!

Hannah is the recipient of:
  • 2023 Leading Edge Fellowship
  • 2023 2nd Place Postdoc Presentation at the ASM Rocky Mountain Branch Meeting
  • 2023 1st Place Poster Award at the Immune System of Bacteria Symposium
