Michael joined the Libraries in February 2007 as Metadata Librarian. He earned Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Classics from the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder in 1996 and 1998,Ìýrespectively, and an M.L.S. from Drexel University in 2006.

Prior to joining the University Libraries, Michael worked in the information technology sector in various technical andÌýadministrative roles. Michael's duties include metadata planning and design for digital collections, including collections in the CU Digital Library; oversight of metadata provision withinÌýthe Libraries' digital library applications; oversight of MARC cataloging of e-books and integrating resources such as websites; and creating documentation for all of the above. Michael isÌýa member of the Libraries' Digital Libraries Management Group and the Scholarly Communications Working Group. As such, he is heavily involved in discussions about digital repositoryÌýapplications and the implementation of the University's institutional repository.

He currently serves on the Digital Archive Task Force, and was a member of the Digital Humanities TaskÌýforce in 2013-2014. Michael's current research focuses on the use and transformation of legacy metadata for digitized collections, project management techniques for digital collections,Ìýand selection of appropriate metadata schemata for digital collections comprising materials of varying genre and type. Michael is a member of VRA, ASIS&T, ALA, ALCTS, and LITA. HeÌýcurrently serves on the VRA Data Standards and VRA Core Oversight Committees. At the University Libraries, Michael currently serves on the Faculty Personnel Committee and the Awards,ÌýElections & Faculty Support Committee.
