After a hiatus of聽more than 6 years,聽Colorado Research in Linguistics (CRIL)聽has been relaunched as a peer-reviewed聽聽hosted聽by CU Scholar,聽a service of聽University Libraries. A student-run working papers periodical,聽CRIL has been published at the 乐播传媒 Boulder since 1971. Its purpose is to provide an聽outlet for new findings and original works by both graduate students and faculty in the Department of Linguistics and allied CU departments. Today's CRIL gives students the opportunity to participate on both sides of the聽academic publishing business (as聽content providers and content producers)聽early in their academic聽careers and joins聽world-wide efforts to open access to academic content.聽Benefits of CRIL鈥檚 new platform include:
- Secure, long-term storage in CU Libraries鈥櫬�.
- Visibility in University Libraries聽聽and Google Scholar search results.
- PlumX Metrics (e.g. number of abstract views, full text downloads, etc.).
- Availability of readership distribution and usage reports (per article, volume, and entire journal).
The Department sees the newly relaunched聽CRIL as an important聽outlet for the work of emerging scholars聽and a channel for new research results. It will provide聽a forum for both聽CU students and the sociocultural and cognitive-functional commitments that drive linguistic research programs at CU.聽The Department is sponsoring聽a CRIL relaunch event on聽Wednesday October 17, 2:00-3:00pm, in Hellems 285聽(linguistics conference room). CRIL organizers will release additional information about聽the relaunch event, a call for Editorial Board applications, and a call for paper submissions.聽
