Welcome, new and returning students! With fall 2019听beginning听this week,听the Department of Mechanical Engineering has some exciting metrics to share.听
This year鈥檚 incoming class includes 121 undergraduate students and 28听transfer students. They are听joining us from over 15 states听and from across the world including countries such as Australia, Malaysia, Spain and the United Arab Emirates to name a few.听
An additional 45 MS听students and 38 PhD students will be also be听joining听the mechanical engineering team. Our graduate students are coming from across 20 different states and they have citizenship in 19 total countries. They represent 28 fields of study between the BS and MS degrees they have previously earned.听听
The start of fall 2019 also marks another year of new student participation听in the听Colorado Mesa University Partnership Program.听

What are first-year ME students excited about?
Sasha Bailey, Kyra Anderson,听Kate Stelwagon and听Allison Palmer听(pictured from left to right) are incoming first-year students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Sasha, Kyra, Kate and Allison听said they are excited about:
- Hands-on classes the department offers where we will get to build things
- Mechanical engineering professional development opportunities for each year of school and seeing how classwork connects to industry
- Going to a school that is high-performing but more focused on collaboration than competition
Nolan Richards and Ryan Lee (pictured from left to right) are incoming first-year students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Nolan and Ryan said they are excited about:
- Engineering projects that give students the freedom to explore different areas of mechanical engineering
- Learning how things work so we can听build things from the ground up
- Going to a school where family members have gone in the past and joining the CU Boulder community
