The Department of Mechanical Engineering is welcoming three new faculty members for fall 2021. They听are researchers,听entrepreneurs and educators who are bringing the department new industry and research opportunities.
Lecturer
Jeremy Koch听joins the Paul M. Rady School of Mechanical Engineering as a Thermofluids Lecturer. Koch has a PhD in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois. He became a part of听the听R+PM Group听as a Post-Doctoral Associate in December of 2019 to initiate new research directions in functional use of liquid crystalline materials in energy applications.听
Assistant Research Professor
Arthur Mizzi's research focuses on air quality, specifically regional ensemble chemical weather forecasting, data assimilation听and emissions adjustment.听He developed WRF-Chem/DART,听a regional ensemble chemical weather forecast/data assimilation system that is used throughout North America, Western听Europe and Asia. Mizzi has a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the 乐播传媒.
Research Professor
Jacob Segil听researches brain-machine interfaces, neural prosthetic devices听and myoelectric control systems. Before joining the ME department, Segil was a Senior Instructor with the听Engineering Plus听program.听Segil is also a Research Healthcare Scientist in the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center.听He holds听eight听patent/patent听applications, has founded听three听companies and consults with two additional companies.听Segil received his听PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the 乐播传媒 Boulder.
