Chunmei Ban will be joining the Department of Mechanical Engineering at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Boulder in August 2019 as an associate professor. Ban has 10 years of experience developing next-generation, high-energy electrochemical materials at NREL.

Alumnus Kevin VanLiere (MechEngr‘95) is working with aerospace engineering Lecturer Hank Scott to improve the design of "the middle seat" on airplanes. VanLiere is President and Scott is CEO and founder of Molon Labe Seating.

Meet Teaching Professor Derek Reamon who will be joining CU Boulder's Department of Mechanical Engineering in August 2019. Previously, Reamon was the Co-director of the Integrated Teaching and Learning Program (ITLP) for twelve years and the Engineering Plus (e+) degree program for six years.

Meet Assistant Professor Longji Cui who will be joining CU Boulder's Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Materials Science and Engineering Program in January 2020. Cui’s research lies at the intersection of thermal science and micro/nano-scale engineering.

With a strong background in biomedical engineering, she is working to understand how different components integrate to form functional tissues during normal development and identify parameters to guide regenerative therapies.

Meet Professor Francois Barthelat who will be joining CU Boulder's Department of Mechanical Engineering in August 2019. He researches key structures and mechanisms in natural materials and develops new bioinspired, high-performance materials.
