What is a Pathway?

A pathway is a suite of courses that聽provides students with recommended聽skills, knowledge, and tools for a specific industry or career. This is not a specialization.听Pathways聽can help students upon graduation when applying for jobs by calling attention to the relevant coursework they have undertaken in聽this space.

MENV offers three pathways: Corporate Sustainability (CSP); Law, Policy, and Planning (LP3); and Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation (SEFP).听

Corporate Sustainability Pathway (CSP)

CSP focuses on integrating sustainability into business strategies by addressing economic, social, and environmental factors. Corporate sustainability aims to create long-term value for both businesses and stakeholders by balancing profitability with responsibility. This approach emphasizes ethical governance, reducing environmental impact, and promoting social responsibility, ensuring that organizations operate in a way that benefits both society and the planet.

Law, Policy, and Planning Pathway (LP3)

LP3 equips students with the skills needed to succeed in high-impact roles like climate, resilience, and sustainability planning. The field of planning has expanded to include crucial areas such as law, policy, public and private management, and stakeholder engagement, enabling professionals to not only develop but also implement impactful plans. This pathway prepares students for roles where they can influence legal, political, and policy processes, shaping visionary outcomes for sustainable futures across government, nonprofit, and private sectors.

Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation Pathway (SEFP)

SEFP helps students聽learn how to effectively identify and engage key stakeholders across diverse sustainability projects. With sustainability issues spanning environmental, social, and economic sectors, the ability to collaborate with a wide array of groups is critical for driving meaningful outcomes. This pathway equips students with skills in communication, outreach, and ethical engagement, empowering them to facilitate inclusive decision-making processes and ensure all voices, especially underrepresented ones, are heard and considered.
