PhD program; BA in Philosophy (with honors), University of Southern California, 2023. Areas of Interest: Normative Ethics (especially theory of well-being and population ethics), Decision Theory, Social and Political Philosophy.

I’m mainly interested in value theory, specifically normative ethics, and some topics in meta-ethics and applied ethics. My research is primarily motivated by ethical issues I find personally engaging and their connections to other areas in philosophy such as decision theory, epistemology, and social philosophy.

One of my main interests is in how to understand a person’s life as a whole, in terms of welfare, personal autonomy and intrapersonal justice, given that it is not unusual for people to go through transformative experiences that change one’s awareness, values, and attitudes. One of my working papers is about how to understand preferences formed from transformative changes forced upon oneself and the implications they have for topics in theories of well-being, applied ethics and political philosophy.

I’m also interested in questions about future generations, specifically questions about how to make sense of welfare aggregation and distributive justice when the population size can vary. Another current research project of mine is about understanding and extending distributive principles, such as prioritarianism, to comparisons of outcomes involving variable population sizes.

When I’m not scratching my head off thinking about these questions, I enjoy making coffee, cooking, buying and selling second-hand furniture, playing tennis, kayaking, and taking long walks with my dog.
