Department of Linguistics

I am an MA student in the Department of Linguistics, with my BA in Linguistics and Japanese. I am interested in interactional and sociocultural linguistics, and especially the methods of conversation analysis. I am studying the role of language and intimacy, how intimacy is used in everyday interactions, and new forms of intimacy made possible by digital media, such as my research into ASMR videos. I am also interested broadly interested in sociophonetics, digital ethnography, and ‘queerness,’ such as in the negotiation and creation of queer identities often excluded from queer communities, such as bisexual, pansexual, and especially aspec identities.
