I am primarily interested in the construction and use of psychiatric language and medicalized identities, using analytical frameworks from sociocultural linguistics, semiotics, and anthropology, as well as critical disability studies and queer theory. My dissertation was centered on the experiences of those who hear voices, and how they attribute identity and social meaning to these experiences.
