Graduated with MA in 2017

I am a student in the Hispanic Linguistics MA program in the Spanish department at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, Boulder who is interested in both ethnographic and variationist approaches to the study of sociolinguistics. I am particularly interested in looking at how ideologies, in particular gender ideologies and language ideologies, influence language use. In terms of linguistic variables, I am particularly interested in phonetic variables rich in social meaning in Spanish although, in the future, I would also like to investigate other, nonphonemic variables. Through the course of my studies, I have developed a strong interest in studying these matters in two contexts, Juchitán, México, and Equatorial Guinea, where I would also be interested in studying the relationship between language and politics in more depth.
