Joel Ortegon
Current MA Student
Department of Linguistics

I am a MA student in the Department of Linguistics, with Bachelor’s degrees in Linguistics and Modern Languages concentration French with a minor in Sociology from Metropolitan State University of Denver. My main area of interest is analyzing the intersection of language and identity in intertribal communication among Native American tribes, and how English is the main motivator of intertribal communication.  I am also more broadly interested in other topics within sociolinguistics, and one area that is of special interest is where the social variables of LGBTQIA+ individuals affect their application of language and how it creates an intersectional community.
