M. Hadassah Ward Hill
Current PhD Student
Department of Communication

M. Hadassah Ward Hill (she/they) is a doctoral student in the Department of Communication
who also works in Jewish Studies and Women & Gender Studies. Hadassah got her B.A. in
Communication Studies from Northern Kentucky University in 2017 and her M.A. in
Communication from the University of Cincinnati in 2019. She has previously worked in
university housing, LGBTQ student support, and has been teaching classes at the university
level for 7 years.

While her methodological speciality is discourse analysis, their current research focuses on
queer and trans experiences in religious families - specifically how we build identities
through membership categories in the face of homo/transphobia within families. Past
research topics include identity for sexual violence survivors, the object of the body within
the recollections of Holocaust survivors, and whiteness within American Judaism. While
Hadassah is passionate about their research, her first love will always be teaching.
