My interest in conversational and interactional analysis is influenced by my career in the sports industry as well as my passion as a fan. I am deeply curious about the social groups represented by sports teams, and the increasingly large communities around them: coaches, media, and fans. How do these groups communicate? How do identity, background, and performance interact in their specific contexts? And what are the linguistic patterns we can study?
