Elizabeth Simon joined CU Boulder in Fall 2022 andÌýthe Oceans & Climate Lab in Spring 2023 as a graduateÌýstudent pursuing a Master's inÌýCivil, Environmental and Architectural EngineeringÌýwith a specialization inÌýHydrology, Water Resources & Environmental Fluid Mechanics. Following her B.SÌýin Civil Engineering fromÌý,ÌýElizabeth worked in water resources engineering in California. Elizabeth has alsoÌýparticipated inÌýÌýprojects in Thailand and Puerto Rico and a research project for Bridges to Prosperity in Rwanda. Her interests includeÌýthe intersection of water, climate change resiliency, and policy.

Elizabeth's research involves analyzing high-resolutionÌýmodels of the circulation within theÌý, with applications toÌýclimate change adaptation, conservation policy, and evolutionary biology. This project is directly motivated by the interdisciplinary needs ofÌýtheÌýIsland Systems Integration Consortium Research Coordination Network (), a consortium of geologists, climatologists, and biologists, and will involve collaborations with the doctoral research of group memberÌýMikell Warms.ÌýFunding for Elizabeth's participation in this research project in the Oceans & Climate Lab is provided by theÌýCenter for Social and Environmental Futures (), part of theÌýCooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences () at CU Boulder.ÌýIn her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys outdoor activities and traveling.
