The Colorado Wildlife Experience immerses users in a virtual Colorado landscape complete with mountains, plains, and lots of wildlife. Users can explore the landscape and discover and experience Colorado’s wildlife closer than they ever would be able to in real life. This allows users to really take time to appreciate the natural world and connect with wildlife like never before. This is especially true for the bison one can find in this landscape. Americans have lost touch with our national mammal. Many think of bison, or “buffalo,” as simply a symbol or mascot of CU Boulder and not for what they really are, breathtaking displays of nature that help build and grow entire ecosystems. The Colorado Wildlife Experience allows for a reconnection with bison, who once dominated the North American landscape, and other wildlife that we tend to take for granted.
