SELF is a photo project that emphasizes the beauty of humankind and the importance of self-expression and self-image. It encourages a deep dive into the viewer’s own self-perception, and what it means to be beautiful. Many people in this day and age suffer from low self-esteem or low self-worth, and I also have moments where I suffer from this as well. So this project aims to provoke introspection of the self and contemplation of our self perception. Therefore, the portraits are juxtaposed with shards of mirror that allow the viewer to see themself as part of the installation in effort to make the exhibit more reflexive on the relationship between the art and the audience.
