JohnÌýRae

John Rae (1882-1963) was an American illustrator of children's books active in New Jersey. AfterÌýattending the Art Student's League of NY, Rae studied under fellow artist/illustrator Howard Pyle at Drexel Institute. Rae contributed to over 50 books and magazines and wrote and illustrated his own works, such asÌýThe New Adventures of Alice,ÌýGrasshopper Green and the Meadow Mice, andÌýGranny Goose. Rae was active in the artist community, becoming an instructor of painting and design at Rollins College, as well as a member of the Society of Illustrators.
