AB Nexus, an initiative to strengthen research collaboration between the CU Anschutz and CU Boulder campuses, is announcing its third call for proposals. The initiative, which awarded $1.2 million of seed funding to 16 project teams in the first year of programming, sponsors new and existing collaborative team projects.

These highly competitive grant programs encourage research by small U.S. businesses with the aim of putting innovative products on the market. STTR also requires businesses to collaborate with nonprofit research institutions like CU Boulder.

The Research & Innovation Office (RIO) has announced the internal competition details for NSF MRSEC, with the goal of identifying Interdisciplinary Research Groups (IRGs) to move forward for submission to NSF. The deadline is November 15, 2021.

Marcus Holzinger, a Smead Faculty Fellow and associate professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences, will address the Subcommittee on Space and Science on July 22. The hearing will focus on Space Situational Awareness, Space Traffic Management and Orbital Debris.

Season 2 of Buff Innovator Insights, a podcast from the Research & Innovation Office (RIO), launches on Thursday, July 15, with an episode featuring Dr. Reiland Rabaka, the inaugural director of the newly established Center for African and African American Studies (CAAAS).

Our vision for the MRSEC@CU process is to facilitate an open exchange of ideas to best position CU Boulder to secure a MRSEC in the upcoming competition.

Meati, which uses the roots of mushrooms to produce whole cuts, was founded in 2019 by Tyler Huggins and CTO Justin Whiteley, who met at CU Boulder while working toward their own PhDs. Whiteley specialized in materials, while Huggins was a former field biologist who discovered the power of mycelium.
