The second edition of Research & Innovation Week, Oct. 14-18, is just around the corner and packed with events that are free and open to students, faculty, staff and the public. Events include everything from expert panels, TED-style talks and film screenings to poster sessions, lightning talks and performances.

CU Boulder research attracted a record $631 million in funding in fiscal year 2019 for groundbreaking studies that investigate a changing environment, explore new opportunities in space, mitigate the effects of natural hazards and more.

CU Boulder is part of a new, $100 million interdisciplinary partnership to address critical water security issues in the United States over the next five years, the U.S. Department of Energy announced.

A pair of CU Boulder engineering alumni have closed on their first round of venture capital funding for a new source of protein: a fast-growing microorganism with the potential to decrease environmental tolls associated with raising meat.

The Ball Corporation and its foundation provided a $1 million gift to support the new Aerospace Engineering Sciences building, and a $104,000 grant for scholarships to grow the pool of diverse talent in CU engineering and the Leeds School of Business.

Last week, IRISS received and successfully conducted the first flight tests of the new prototype Super RAAVEN airframe at the Table Mountain facility north of Boulder. The aircraft is a custom commissioned version of the Drak by RiteWing RC.

The Innosphere Fund announced their second investment in Boulder-based medical device startup company, Aspero Medical, Inc. Aspero has developed the APTM Balloon Overtube for use in gastrointestinal (GI) balloon endoscopy procedures.
