DU Visiting Assistant Professor Ben Nourse will speak at the Denver Art Museum on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, 12:00 p.m. as part of the museum's Asian Art Association lecture series. His talk will explore the world of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ printed materials, from the initiatl production of hand-carved printing blocks to the various printing styles that emerged among ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ printing centers. Professor Nourse will also look at examples of non-book uses of printing in Tibet, such as printed talismans, ritual implements, and artistic prints. Drawing from Professor Nourse's research at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ printing houses and in rare ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ book collections, the lecture will showcase some of the artistry and the diversity of woodblock printing in Tibet.
