In the spirit of Homecoming and Greek pride, CU Panhellenic Association is sponsoring the first annual Parade of Sorority Homes on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The tour of sorority houses "will allow the public a unique opportunity to view some of Boulder's most beautiful and historic homes," according to Cristin Brown, director of community relations for the Panhellenic Association.

"The women of CU-Boulder's Greek system invite anyone who is interested to take a trip into the past through the Parade of Sorority Homes," Brown said.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, all of the sorority houses will be "dressed in pink" with pink ribbons and bows. Free breast cancer information will be available.

Many of the CU sorority chapters were established in Boulder at the beginning of the century and have become an integral part of the city's physical setting, Brown said. The chapters will provide highlights of their history in Boulder as well as their roles in local and national events.

The parade will include tours of all nine of the houses including Alpha Phi, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, Delta Delta Delta, Chi Omega, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi and Kappa Alpha Theta. Parade participants will be able to view old record books, historians' notes, old scrapbooks and photos, and other memorabilia kept in the chapter houses over the years.

Kicking off Homecoming Day with a taste of history and school spirit, the Parade will begin at 2 p.m. starting from the south terrace of the University Memorial Center. Tickets are $10 per person and participants are encouraged to call in advance to reserve tickets due to limited availability. The number to call is 303-492-6359.

Working with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Race for A Cure, all Parade participants will be able to register for the Race, scheduled Oct. 4. Runners have two races options, a 5K race for women or a 5K coed race. A family walk-run also is being sponsored.
