The Student Organization for Alumni Relations selected six outstanding CU-Boulder students during Homecoming weekend Sept. 25-27 to receive awards for academic acheivement, leadership and community service.

Two students received Academic Excellence awards, psychology majors Adrienne Ellis and Joseph Urgemah. Ellis, a senior, has a grade-point average of 3.99 and holds positions with the Campus Crusade for Christ and Alpha Phi Omega.

Urgemah, also a senior, received the Academic Excellence award for maintaining a G.P.A. of 3.97. He is a member of Psi Chi, Golden Key National Honors Society, Mortarboard, Presidents Leadership Class, the psychology department Mentoring Program and the Honors Journal.

Two students received the Student Leadership award, seniors Meredith Johnson and Lynea Hansen. Johnson is president of both the Boulder Panhellenic Association and Alpha Phi International Fraternity. She is a member of the Presidents Leadership Class, Golden Key National Honor Society, Gamma Sigma Alpha National Honor Society and the Student Union Leadership Council.

Hansen is a ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Student Union tri-executive and has held offices in her sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi. She also has been involved in the Program Council, Off-Campus Student Services, the student finance board and KVCU radio.

Juniors Elizabeth Riley and Amanda Arthur are the two community service award winners. Riley volunteers as a youth soccer coach at the Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center and with the Student Organization for Alumni Relations.

Arthur volunteers at the Boulder County Safehouse, the EXPAND program for people with disabilities, the Student Conservation Association and the CU Women's Resource Center.
