The Study Abroad Program at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder has awarded more than $94,000 in scholarships and 71 exchange positions to 204 students enrolled in study abroad programs this summer, fall or academic year.
The aid comes from the program's auxiliary accounts, alumni donations, the Colorado Commission on Higher Education Diversity Fund and foundation donations. Exchange positions are not monetary awards but a reduction in study abroad program fees worth several thousands of dollars thanks to agreements with certain foreign universities.
ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ were awarded scholarships and exchange positions based on financial need, academic standing and the student's ability to write and be a good ambassador for the university and the United States.
CU-Boulder enrolled 388 students in study abroad programs during the 1999 summer and fall semesters and the 1999-2000 academic year. Scholarship applications were submitted by 174 students and 133 received a scholarship from CU-Boulder.
In addition to the scholarships awarded by the CU-Boulder Study Abroad Program, students received scholarships from the Association of Teachers of Japanese, Association of International Education, Japan (AEIJ), the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), Denmark International Study (DiS) and the School for International Training (SIT).
