A group from the CU-Boulder Alumni Association will participate in the Race for the Cure 5K run/walk starting at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, at DenverÂ’s Civic Park.

CU-Boulder alumni and friends should call (303) 492-8484 if they wish to join the CU alumni team. The fee is $22.

"We are expecting a team of 100 alumni, students and their families to join us on race day," said Kent Zimmerman, president of the CUAA.

"This is an opportunity for the Association and itÂ’s members to participate in a cause that is important and affects many alumni. Our team runners will receive the official race t-shirt and a photograph of themselves with Chip, CU-BoulderÂ’s mascot," Zimmerman said.

Race for the Cure benefits the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Dallas, Texas. Founded in 1982, the Foundation and its affiliates have raised more than $136 million toward breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.

The Race for the Cure series, held in 98 cities in 1999, is the FoundationÂ’s signature breast cancer awareness and fund-raising event.
