"The Foreign Mother Tongue," lecture with author Sayed Kashua.ÌýOld Main Theater hosts Sayed Kashua, who will give a free lecture on what it is like to identify as a Palestinian and live in Israel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Kashua is an Israeli citizen and award winning author, who can speak and write in Hebrew, who will be speaking (in English). .
A Path to Climate Justice workshop.ÌýThe CU Environmental Center welcomes Heather Hackman to the UMC from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to address Earth’s current climate situation and the global population’s response to climate change. Hackman will approach climate change with a social justice perspective, and consider possible approaches to the problem that we all face and discuss maintaining a balance with the planet we live on. Tickets are $20 for students. .
Mirror Exhibit.ÌýBe sure to catch the opening day of CU alum Ashley Williams’ new exhibit, hosted by Norlin Library, which portrays the intrigue and inspiration of space through mirrors. You can go anytime between now and Oct. 17, so be sure to check out the exhibit next time you’re in Norlin for an all-nighter. .

Karaoke Night.ÌýSwing into the UMC’s Club 156 this fine Thursday evening between 8 and 10:30 p.m. to get your groove on and bust out some tunes. Bring some friends for a pick-your-own-song karaoke session, and just remember: the worse you sing, the louder they’ll cheer. .
Free flu shot clinic.ÌýA college campus is one of the easiest places to get sick, so protect yourself for the cold weather season by stopping into UMC 225 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to get a quick, painless and free flu shot. Service is on a walk-in basis, and all you need is your Buff One Card. .
Friday, Oct. 2
NoBo Art Walk.ÌýIf you came to CU for the charms of Boulder, but you’re feeling a little stuck on campus, then take the Skip up to North Boulder this Friday, which we who live there refer to as NoBo, to take a tour of some of the art that Boulder has to offer, and meet the artists who created it. The self-guided art walk runs from 6 to 9 p.m., and includes a variety of venues and mediums. Go to for more information and locations, and don’t forget to look for the pink flags to guide your tour!
Friday Night Film screening.ÌýThe CU Program Council will be screening Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, perhaps one of Tom Cruise’s more iconic action roles, for free this Friday. The movie starts at 8 p.m. in Chem 140, which, I can attest, is a way better place to see a movie than attend a lecture. Popcorn will be served.
The Glass Menagerie.ÌýCatch the CU-Boulder theater department’s incredible showing of the classic play at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theater this weekend. It’s an American classic by Tennessee Williams about the stories of each of the unique members of a family, whose lives are haunted with memory. Tickets start at $18 for this amazing performance. .
Saturday, Oct. 3
CU v OU football game and Stampede.ÌýSpend a social day of football with the Buffs and their fans this Saturday and watch CU thrash Oregon. The game against the Ducks starts at 8 p.m. in Folsom Field, but you can start earlier than that with a tailgate in Lot 308 across from the C4C, and the always fun Stampede the night before on Pearl Street Mall, where the CU cheerleaders and marching band will strut their stuff. .

The State of Satire.ÌýJoin comedians and writers from popular TV shows and publications such as Parks and Recreation, Last Week Tonight with John OliverÌý²¹²Ô»å The OnionÌýat 6:15 p.m. in Mackey Auditorium. The panel discussion will encompass the way satire and social media affect the way we discuss current issues and events, and I can tell you, it’s going to be hilarious. Entry will be $2 with a Buff OneCard. .
