Have you ever felt clueless when writing a paper? Are you worried that your paper is made up of a series of un-cohesive thoughts jumbled together? If the only thing you know about writing comes from what gets highlighted in red in Microsoft Office, then The Writing Center is your new best friend.

The center is free to all students and faculty on campus. You can walk in or schedule an appointment to have a one-on-one meeting with a professionally trained writing consultant. Writing Center consultants can give you help with big structural changes or small grammatical errors--or anything in between. They also teach you along the way so you can better understand how to improve your writing skills. Consultants are available at all stages of your writing process, whether that is outlining your paper or revising your final draft, and they won’t just edit your paper for you, they’ll teach you why the changes should be made.

Here are a few things the writing center is especially helpful for

  • Teaching tips and tricks to push through writer’s block

  • Properly citing sources (MLA/APA)

  • Improving persuasive writing skills

  • Ensure that you are completely and clearly answering the writing prompt
