Student uses Kubi device to remotely interact in the classroomDo you know a student who is close to graduating or whose graduation will be delayed because he or sheÌýcannot be on campus this spring? The Office of Information TechnologyÌý(OIT) may be able to help!

OIT is looking for such students to participate in a pilot involving the use of a Kubi, a robotic neck that holds an iPad and allows a remote student to actively participate in a face-to-face class. The student can listen to the lesson, contribute to group activitiesÌýand interact with the instructor and classmates with minimal disruption to the learning experience.

Last spring, a Kubi enabled a distance student to attend a full semester of Italian 1020. The Kubi met the needs of the distance student without disrupting the learning experience for face-to-face students.

Based on this pilot, OIT would like to further explore if Kubis can be a flexible solution for remote students to attend our smaller face-to-face classes on campus and help students complete their degree on time.

If you or somebody you know would be a good candidate for the Kubi pilot, please email Mark.Werner@colorado.edu.
