Tune in for the opportunity to be inspired and amused by the work of talented youngsters determined to change the world.
This summer, the at CU Boulder invited听80 middle and high school students to participate in the program,听an immersive, science-education experience focused听on getting students from mostly first-generation college bound families to think harder about the effects of climate change on their everyday lives.
"We want to get students excited about jobs in the field of science and technology," says Anne Gold, an educational specialist at CIRES.听
LOCC consists of three weeklong camps where students have the opportunity to investigate specific topics related to climate change and work together to create a concept map and script for short film, under the advisement of CU Boulder science mentors.
The first and final camps will be held at CU Boulder听with听film screenings on Friday, June 23, at the CIRES Auditorium and Saturday, July 22, at the ATLAS Center.听And in hopes of reaching more rural students,听LOCC will hold the听second camp听in Salida, Colorado, with a film screening Saturday,听July 15.听
