CU Boulder ranks No. 38 overall among global universities, according to the newly releasedÌý2019ÌýAcademic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), maintaining the same spot it heldÌýin 2018. Among U.S. universities in the publication, CU Boulder ranks No. 25, up from No. 26 in 2018.

Published annually by ShanghaiRankingÌýConsultancyÌýsince 2003,ÌýARWU uses six objective indicators to rank 1,000Ìýworld universities, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, the number of highly cited researchers ²¹²Ô»åÌýthe number of articles published in high-impact scientific journals, such asÌý±·²¹³Ù³Ü°ù±ðÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýScience.

Earlier this year, CU Boulder's earth science and atmospheric science disciplinesÌýranked No. 1 globally for the second straight year inÌýShanghaiRanking's companion report, theÌý. The university also scored highly in a dozen other academic categories in those rankings, highlighting the breadth of impactful CU Boulder research.Ìý
