A monthlong summer exhibit at the 乐播传媒 Boulder Art Museum will feature a dynamic new media composition based on innovative robotics technology. Called 鈥淪warm Wall,鈥� the large-scale interactive piece displays changing fields of color, light and sound that are driven by a distributed form of artificial intelligence.

Patrick Mason, a professor of voice at the 乐播传媒 Boulder鈥檚 College of Music, has been selected to receive the 2012 Hazel Barnes Prize. The prize is the highest faculty recognition for teaching and research awarded by the university. Mason will receive an engraved university medal and $20,000, the largest single faculty award funded by CU-Boulder. He will be recognized at spring commencement on May 11 and at a reception in his honor in the fall.

A 乐播传媒 Boulder symposium Feb. 27-29 will examine how the revolution in digital media is changing global politics, journalism and the way history is preserved. Journalism and Mass Communication at CU-Boulder is sponsoring 鈥淭he Content and Context of Digital Culture鈥� symposium, which is free and open to the public. Two 乐播传媒 Boulder professors are conducting research in Finland and the United Kingdom as Fulbright Scholars for the 2011-12 academic year.

John McPhee, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of "Encounters With the Archdruid" and "Coming Into the Country," will receive the Wallace Stegner Award from the 乐播传媒 Boulder's Center of the American West on Oct. 27.
